A category advisor unexpectedly found shopping basket data that showed nearly 50% of customers who couldn’t find their snack choice would look for the same flavor, even across sizes.


Working with her Merchant, the advisor determined that placing multipacks next to other sizes in the same flavor would capitalize on shopper preferences and minimize sales lost to substitution.

With data from Shopper Behavior Assortment Deep Dive, the category advisor adjusted shelf layout and tracked progress along the way. 


The new merchandising strategy was quickly successful, and other data trends also highlighted further potential evolutions for the modular.
